Summer is a great time for a wedding. If you are getting married this summer, here are some current wedding trends that you may consider incorporating into your wedding planning.
Asian inspired choices
Even if you aren't Asian yourself, it doesn't mean you can't incorporate Asian influences into your wedding reception. Asian food and drinks, dramatic red and gold decorations and Asian-inspired wedding favors are all trendy ideas.
Dessert action stations
Dessert action stations are becoming very popular. Rent a chocolate fountain and provide lots of summer fruit for dipping. A build your own ice cream sundae station is also a terrific idea.
Eco-friendly weddings
"Go green" on your wedding day. Use locally grown flowers, soy candles, recycled paper invitations and other eco-friendly items. Green wedding favors, such as seed packets, plant bulbs and potted plants, are popular choices.
Cocktails only reception
Instead of a sit down or buffet dinner, many couples are saving money by serving cocktails and appetizers only at their wedding reception. If you aren't serving a meal at your reception, plan your wedding away from traditional mealtimes and be sure to indicate that it is "cocktails only" on your invitation. You don't want hungry, disgruntled guests who were expecting a meal.
