Place Card Holders Can Do Double Duty

Posted on May 9th, 2012 by kevindflynn in Wedding Favors

Matte Gold Metal Photo AlbumPlace card holders serve a very practical purpose on your wedding day, doing their part in keeping things organized and efficient. However, they don’t have to be frivolous little items that are just used for a day. Made in styles ranging from elegant to whimsical, well-chosen place card holders can do double duty, becoming lovely mementos of your wedding day for your friends and family to take home after they have served their purpose on your wedding tables.

Place card holders double as thoughtful wedding favors when they come in the form of miniature picture albums, such as the Matte Gold Metal Photo Album, or decorative picture frames. Both of these options can make a lovely keepsake for friends and family, used to display photos from your wedding or their own pictures after the festivities have ended.

Picture frames or albums also offer a bit more flexibility than the typical place card holder, giving enough space for a thank you note or a poem to be included for each guest, a personal touch that is sure to make them feel appreciated. Picture frame place holders are available in an array of styles, ranging from elegant silver, gold, chrome or pewter metal frames to delicate floral patterns or whimsical sports, beach, animal or fairytale themes.

Candle holders that double as place card holders are another pretty and practical option, making a lovely addition to your wedding tables and thoughtful gifts for your guests, as is the Damask Design Placecard Memo Pad, a lovely little box full of memo paper and topped with a place card frame. Other great double duty place card holders include the Elegant Vase Place Card Holder, which can hold flowers both at your wedding table and your guest’s homes, and place holders that double as paperweights or favor boxes.

Providing each of your guests with a place card holder that doubles as a thoughtful and useful gift is a terrific way to show your appreciation as they help you celebrate on of life’s most important events. And, if you are thrifty by nature, knowing that those place card holders will serve a useful purpose after the wedding, rather than being packed away or discarded, is bound to bring a certain amount of satisfaction.

The Indoor/Outdoor Wedding Dilemma – Will Mother Nature cooperate?

Posted on April 24th, 2012 by kevindflynn in Wedding Favors

The Indoor Outdoor Wedding Dilemma – Will Mother Nature cooperateThe dream of a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony can quickly become a nightmare if the clouds open up and rain dampens your otherwise perfect day. How do you prepare for something like that? Mother Nature is a fickle force. Just when you think the weather will cooperate with you, she changes her mind and dishes out a little adversity. Proper planning for an outdoor venue is necessary if you want to have that fairy tale wedding you’ve been visualizing since childhood. How do you make sure it happens for you?

Begin the planning process by deciding on a back-up plan for bad weather. Weddings aren’t like back yard barbeques. You can’t go with a rain date if the weather doesn’t cooperate the day of. Between the cost of the wedding dress, the invitations, the meal, the cake, the limo, and the venue itself, you’re looking at a loss of thousands of dollars and some very irritated family members if the wedding doesn’t happen on the designated time and day. To make sure you don’t have that experience, find a way to bring the outdoor venue indoors. You can accomplish this with a tent or book a location with a hall and an outdoor setting. That way, you can move inside if it rains or if it’s too hot or cold.

Choosing the Right Wedding Favors for that Indoor/Outdoor Plan

If the weather conditions are uncertain and you think you will have to deal with extreme heat, cold, or rain, you might want to stay away from edible wedding favors. They tend to be the most vulnerable to the elements. Fairy tale wedding favors, on the other hand, are durable and long lasting, have that special look and feel that will give your wedding a magical appeal, and work in both outdoor and indoor settings. Imagine a wedding day filled with enchanted castles, glass slippers, and magical coaches. We have all of those and more to help you create a fairy tale venue for your special day.

Other popular choices include our love wedding favors collection and of course our seasonal lines for winter, spring, summer, and fall. When going with an outdoor venue you might want to look into each of these. Keep in mind that in an outdoor setting, if it doesn’t rain, you’ll be dealing with wind and possibly bright sunlight. Certain wedding favors don’t hold up well in these elements. If you have any questions about which ones we’d recommend, feel free to call our toll free number 888-448-7859.

The Tradition of Wedding Bells

Posted on December 28th, 2010 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Kissing Bell FavorsWedding bells have been a part of weddings for centuries, symbolizing love, luck and new beginnings. In days gone by, church bells would ring across the countryside to signify that some event was happening at the church, be it a wedding, a funeral or a Sunday service. The bells were thought to bring good luck to the newlywed couple. Some superstitious tales would say that the bells also frightened away evil spirits and bad vibes to ensure marital bliss and happiness. Today, wedding bells are still oftentimes rung as the couple exits the church, as part of the ceremony, or at the wedding reception. Bells are also now a popular wedding theme, used on invitations, attached to centerpieces, and given to guests in the form of wedding bell favors.

Cross-Cultural Weddings

Posted on October 24th, 2008 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

My husband and I went to a wedding last weekend. It was a cross-cultural wedding – Chinese and American. First a traditional Chinese ceremony, complete with Chinese wedding attire, was performed. This was interesting even though I couldn’t understand any of it. After the Chinese wedding ceremony was complete, then the couple quickly changed clothes while the guests were treated to some Chinese music, followed by “Here Comes the Bride” as the bride came down the church aisle once again.
