When I first started planning my wedding, I thought that having a live DJ was a must. The DJ is the one who gets the party started and guides the reception right? How can a wedding run without someone to play the music, announce the new couple, cue the music for the first dance, and tell everyone what is happening? However, when I started to do some research on getting a DJ, I came to the realization that having a live DJ is quite expensive. The average fees for having a live DJ for 4 hours was between $1,500 and $2,000. Since we were having a wedding on a tight budget, I realized that if I wanted to have a DJ at my wedding I would have to make major sacrifices to the decorations, wedding favors, and refreshments at my reception. Faced with having to make a decision between a live DJ and being able to afford a beautiful reception that I would be proud of, I decided to explore some other options.
