Picture Perfect Wedding Day

Disposable Wedding CameraOne of the biggest complaints of couples when they get their wedding reception photos back is not enough candid pictures.

Professional photographers oftentimes do a great job capturing formal or posed pictures, but sometimes miss out on the fun candids. To get as many candid photos at your wedding reception as possible, you should consider placing a disposable camera on each table.

These cameras will encourage your guests to take pictures themselves. At the end of the night, they leave the cameras on the table. You collect them, get the pictures develop and Voila! – lots of terrific photos.

It’s cheap too! Here at Truly Wedding Favors, you can get disposable wedding cameras to match your wedding theme. From a fun blue beach themed camera to formal white and silver variety, you are sure to find a disposable camera to go along your wedding colors.

Don’t Skip the Wedding Favors!

Posted on April 28th, 2008 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Last weekend, my husband and I went to a wedding where the bride and groom didn’t give ANY favors! How tacky!

I know everyone doesn’t have unlimited funds and I wasn’t expecting anything elaborate. But it’s really shameful to have a wedding and skip the wedding favors completely!

If you can afford to rent a banquet hall, serve dinner to 200 guests, pay for elaborate floral centerpieces and buy ridiculous ice sculptures that melt in a few hours, then you should be able to spring for wedding favors.

You can make your own wedding favors at home on the cheap. All you need is tulle circles, some candy and a ribbon. Each favor will cost under fifty cents.

If you don’t have time to make your own favors, just look around here at Truly Wedding Favors. You will find a variety of different wedding favors that are both elegant and affordable.

Check the section in the sidebar entitled “Favors By Price” to locate wedding favors that are on sale.

There’s no excuse to not have favors at all!

These starfish soap favors pictured here are available for under a dollar each! These cute soaps are perfect for a beach theme wedding or any summertime wedding!

Cookie Cutter Wedding Favors

Posted on March 20th, 2008 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

My husband and I went to a wedding last weekend where the favors consisted of a cookie recipe, along with two heart-shaped cookie cutters. I thought it was just adorable for the couple to share the bride’s family cookie recipe with all the guests.

Cookie cutters and other cooking related items are growing in popularity as wedding favors. Here at Truly Wedding Favors, we offer several different types of cookie cutters that are perfect for your wedding.

The set of three heart shaped cookie cutters pictured here are a great option. They are not only practical, but also very affordable. These cookie cutters are packaged in black bottomed gift box and wrapped with an organza bow for very nice presentation. They are just over a dollar per set.

I also love The Perfect Pair cookie cutters. If you choose these favors, you can also have other decorations centered around the pair theme – including having a basket of sweet pairs on each table instead of flowers or more traditional centerpiece.

Eco-friendly Favors – Going Green with Seeds

Posted on March 12th, 2008 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Last weekend, I was at a wedding where the bride and groom gave out seed packets for wedding favors. It’s a very cute idea for those that are interested in “going green” for their wedding, or anyone who loves nature.

In recent years, I have also seen couples hand out plant bulbs, potted plants and even minature tomato gardens. These are fun favors that are eco-friendly and appreciated by all. Here at Truly Wedding Favors, the “Love is Blooming” Wildflower Kit is a nice option.

Both whimsical and eco-friendly, each kit comes with 12 seed packets and a large package of wildflower seeds to fill the packets. What’s great about these favors is they are not only fun but also very affordable – under a $1.

Each gift packet has a heart detail that reads “Love is Blooming” and can be overlaid with an optional personalized heart-shaped sticker.

Wedding Favor Tradition of Confetti

Posted on January 8th, 2008 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Jordan AlmondsMany years ago, wedding favors were almost always candy-coated almonds (what you might know as Jordan almonds). Almonds were used because they are a long-standing symbol of fertility. It was all part of wishing the new couple to have many babies.

Italians called the candy-coated almonds, “confetti.” To this day, they are still the wedding favor of choice in most Italian weddings. The word “confetti” as you may know it – the small bits of paper that are tossed at the bride and groom in celebration – actually stems from this use of confetti.

Since tossing actual confetti (almonds) may injure someone, paper confetti was created to symbolize the almonds. Therefore, when you toss paper confetti at the bride and groom, that tradition too is a wish of fertility.

If you are looking to give Jordan almonds (or any other small candies) as wedding favors. You will need a container to put them in. Here at Truly Wedding Favors, we offer a wide variety of very inexpensive favor boxes, bags and tins. For around a dollar each, you can find many cute ways to package your “confetti.”

Casual Beach Weddings

Posted on January 8th, 2008 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Flip Flop Refrigerator MagnetsMy girlfriend is planning a beach wedding in Fiji this summer. Though she is just inviting a small circle of friends and family (about 30 people), the planning is definitely going to demand a lot of extra time and attention since it’s a destination wedding.

She’s in the midst of major planning mode right now and she’s already getting a little stressed out. When I asked her about wedding favors, she said they weren’t having any. When I asked why not, she’s said, “Umm … because it’s a beach wedding so we are trying to keep it casual. No one will want favors at an outdoor reception.”

I completely disagreed but I’m not sure if she listened. Even if you are holding a casual beach wedding locally, as opposed to exotic Fiji, you can still provide cute wedding favors for your guests.

Some of the best beach wedding favors that I’ve seen are flip flop favors.

You can get candles, place card holders, keychains or other items with a flip flop theme. These are cute, colorful fun favors that are affordable and perfect for a beach wedding.

These adorable flip flop refrigerator magnets pictured here are around a dollar each! You can’t beat the price. So, even if you are having a casual wedding or are short on funds, don’t skip the wedding favors altogether!

I’ll still try to convince my friend that she should re-consider. Maybe after a few drinks at her bridal shower, she’ll relax a little and be willing to discuss it.

Key Chain Wedding Favors

Posted on December 10th, 2007 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Crystal Heart Key Chain FavorOne of the best wedding favors you can buy is a key chain wedding favor.

The reason that I love them so much is because they are functional (everybody has keys!) and they are relatively inexpensive. Most key chain favors are under $2 each!

So, if you are looking for a practical, fun and cheap wedding favor – consider a key chain.

What’s also cool about key chain favors is that you can get them in every theme, style, shape and color possible.

Here are three of my favorite key chain wedding favors that you can find right here at Truly Wedding Favors.

Chrome Crystal Heart Key Chain
This is my choice for an elegant favor. The 3 dimensional crystal heart dangles from this lovely chrome chain. This favor is packaged beautiful as the key chain sit on a bed of fabric inside the silver box.

Flip Flop Key Chain
If you are looking for a fun favor for a beach wedding, this is it! These favors come in three colorful styles each with a sunglasses, starfish or sand dollar design. Even if you aren’t having your wedding on the beach itself, these are a great choice for a summer wedding.

Key Chain with Crystal Dice
For Las Vegas theme wedding, you can’t beat this favor. It features a crystal die dangling from a chrome chain. If you like this favor, check out the rest of the Las Vegas Wedding Favors that you can find here on Truly.

Custom CD Wedding Favors

Posted on December 4th, 2007 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Custom CDA customized CD/DVD is a great idea for a wedding favor. It’s a favor that the couple can create themselves by putting together a collection of love songs (or other favorite songs) and burning them onto a CD. Just be sure there aren’t any copyright issues with the music you use!

You can also add photos or videos of the bride and groom. It’s particularly cute to include photos beginning from childhood, leading all the way up to the engagement.

If you aren’t technically savvy or don’t have time to do it yourself, hire a company to make the favor for you. One such company that does an excellent job is OurWeddingCD.com.

You can select from ten diferent design styles, submit your photos, videos, music and/or text, and then they’ll put it all together. They even can make these custom CD/DVD packages as invitations rather than wedding favors – which I think is a cool idea.

When you have a chance, check out OurWeddingCD.com for more information.

If you decide not to do the CD – it’s still a cute idea to give your guests a photo of the happy couple as a wedding favor. It’s very simple – just buy a small wedding favor picture frame and add a picture!

Two Peas in a Pod Wedding Favors

Posted on December 3rd, 2007 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Two Peas in a Pod ShakersTwo peas in a pod is a common wedding theme for spring or summer weddings. The idea behind this theme is that the bride and groom are inseparable – like two peas in a pod.

You can use the theme throughout your wedding by ordering two peas in a pod invitations, decorating in shades of green, having snap peas on the menu and of course, having two peas in a pod wedding favors.

Recently, I found these Two Peas In A Pod invitations from Weddings With Class that are very cute. However, if these are too casual for your taste, you could always just order elegant wedding invitations in a light shade of green instead.

For wedding favors, consider these Pea Pod Salt & Pepper Shakers. These unique cermamic shakers are just perfect for this wedding theme. You can get them here at Truly Wedding Favors for $2.89 per set.

Conversation Hearts Favors

Posted on December 2nd, 2007 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Conversation Hearts - David's BridalEverybody loves those little conversation hearts you can get around Valentine’s Day. They come in a variety of pastel colors, each bearing a cute saying.

In recent years, these hearts have become a popular candy wedding favor as well, and you can purchase them at a variety of online stores.

One place that has these hearts is David’s Bridal. I know – it’s a little weird to buy candy hearts from a retailer best known for beautiful wedding gowns. But I was at a wedding recently and the couple had purchased their conversation hearts from DavidsBridal.com. You can get a bag of about 125 hearts for $8.00.

Once you buy the hearts, you have to package them to create your wedding favors. Here at Truly Wedding Favors, you can find a variety of cute little wedding favor tins and bags that are perfect for this.

My favorites are the Wedding Dress Tins and Tuxedo Tins. At just $.74 each, you can’t beat the price!

You’ll Love These Wedding Favors

Posted on December 1st, 2007 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Love Coasters and Bottle StopperI love wedding favors that are centered around the theme of love! And here is an example of the “love” favors available here on Truly Wedding Favors – the Love Coasters & Wine Bottle Stopper set.

This favor is unique as it combines a pair of coasters and bottle stopper (which is always a popular favor) in a very nice-looking wire stand.

Your guests will proudly display this favor on a table in their home for years after your wedding. Each favor consists of two square glass coasters, each with the word love spelled out in the four quadrants, along with a chrome heart bottle stopper.

These lovely favors are available for $5.54 each – which is quite a bargain considering how substantial each favor is.

If you are looking for a more inexpensive favor featuring the love theme – this “Love Rules” Ruler is an adorable option. It’s both cute and useful!

Tropical Paradise Wedding

Posted on November 27th, 2007 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Palm Tree Place Card HolderEven if you aren’t getting married in a Hawaii or another tropical paradise, you can still have a very tropical wedding.

Here are some quick ideas on how to achieve a tropical theme at your wedding reception:

  • Decorate with lots of greenery and tropical flowers.
  • Serve the type of food you’d find at a luau, such as roasted pig, mahi mahi or chicken and rice.
  • Choose a pineapple upside down cake or coconut cake.
  • Give a Hawaiian lei to each of your wedding guests as they enter the reception.
  • Select a signature cocktail such as a Mai Tai, Pina Colada or Blue Hawaiian.

And of course, you should have tropical themed wedding favors. The perfect favor is this Palm Tree Place Card Holder.

This pewter tree is elegant and functional. It will hold the place cards at your reception and then can be used by guests to hold a photo or memos when they take it home. At as little as $2.70 each, these place card holder will be perfect to complement your tropical theme.

No Wedding Favors?

Posted on November 24th, 2007 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Tuxedo TinsI was talking to a friend of mine last week who is getting married in March. She said that she’s not having any wedding favors for her wedding because she is over budget.

I told her (maybe not so nicely) that having no wedding favors is tacky. She thinks it’s better to be a little tacky and give nothing at all, than to be really tacky and give cheap favors.

What do you think?

I believe that wedding guests appreciate the thought of wedding favors, even if they are small. And besides that, you can make your own wedding favors or buy very inexpensive favors.

Here at Truly Wedding Favors, you can get wedding favors under $1. Even if you have 300 guests (and you shouldn’t be having a wedding with 300 guests, if you can’t afford favors) then it would only cost $300 to purchase cute favors for all your guests.

No wedding favors at all? I certainly hope she changes her mind.
