My husband and I went to a wedding last weekend. It was a cross-cultural wedding – Chinese and American. First a traditional Chinese ceremony, complete with Chinese wedding attire, was performed. This was interesting even though I couldn’t understand any of it. After the Chinese wedding ceremony was complete, then the couple quickly changed clothes while the guests were treated to some Chinese music, followed by “Here Comes the Bride” as the bride came down the church aisle once again.
Thirty minutes later, the Catholic wedding ceremony was finished and they were pronounced man and wife. Overall, it was nice (albeit long) that they incorporated the wedding ceremonies from both families.
The wedding reception hall was decorated in red and gold, traditional Chinese wedding colors, and the food was trendy, hip Chinese cuisine with a lot of American influence.
For wedding favors, each guest received a Chinese take out box that was filled with little goodies.

Even if you aren’t of Asian heritage, it doesn’t mean you can’t have an Asian wedding theme. Many couples enjoy the culture and colors so they are incorporating them into their wedding day.
If you are planning your wedding with an Asian theme, you have a lot of beautiful options for Asian wedding favors, decorations, and more. And don’t forget about the food, everyone loves delicious Chinese, Japanese and other Asian food.
For a Chinese wedding, red and gold colors are used. These colors are bold and lively, but also add a touch of sophistication. Some of my favorite Asian wedding favors are these beautiful Chinese Tapestry votive candles. Each stunning red candle is packaged in a black and red Chinese tapestry bag. The red drawstring braid draws the bag shut and features two gold-trimmed tassels. The tag on each favor has the Chinese symbol for Double Happiness.
You can get these unique wedding favors here at Truly for under $2 each, depending on how many you order. For more tips on Asian weddings, read our article about how to plan an Asian theme wedding.
