Destination Weddings: Al Cielo Hotel

Posted on October 25th, 2008 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors, destination weddings

Mexico is one of the most popular locations for destination weddings. It can be relatively inexpensive compared to some other tropical locales. One of my favorite places to stay in Mexico is Al Cielo Hotel and it’s perfect for weddings.

Al Cielo HotelAl Cielo Hotel is located on Xpu-Ha Beach in Riviera Maya, Mexico. It is technically a boutique hotel because of its small size. The entire hotel is made with local woods and materials. Each room sits directly on the Xpu-Ha Beach, making the gorgeous blue water a part of each guest’s front yard.

Al Cielo Hotel has only four rooms – water, air, earth and fire. Each has an upstairs bedroom area and a downstairs living area with guest rooms. Rooms get fantastic views of the beach and of the surrounding jungle. The sunsets are absolutely dazzling. All guests receive complimentary breakfast, Tai Chi lessons for two, free parking, access to the beach club, hammocks, daily maid service and wireless internet.

The spa has special massages for adults and children. It also features antique healing technique sessions based on methods used in Hawaii, China, Thailand and in Mexico. Al Cielo Restaurant, located next to Al Cielo Hotel, is situated in a comfortable thatch roof palapa. The menu consists of fresh local fish and shellfish prepared under world renowned Chef Francisco Morales.

Al Cielo Hotel is proud to host weddings, anniversary parties and honeymoon escapes. They have a full time planner to help coordinate your wedding, including finding musicians, planning your menu and every other special detail. To learn more about Al Cielo and how to host your destination wedding there, visit their website at alcielohotel.com. They can accommodate a sit-down plated dinner for up to 104 people.

For a beach wedding, don’t forget the beach wedding favors. Truly Wedding favors offers a variety of unique wedding favors that are perfect for a beach wedding. They feature elements from the beach, including palm trees, sand, surf, seashells, boats and more. Check out the entire selection of beach wedding favors.

Cross-Cultural Weddings

Posted on October 24th, 2008 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

My husband and I went to a wedding last weekend. It was a cross-cultural wedding – Chinese and American. First a traditional Chinese ceremony, complete with Chinese wedding attire, was performed. This was interesting even though I couldn’t understand any of it. After the Chinese wedding ceremony was complete, then the couple quickly changed clothes while the guests were treated to some Chinese music, followed by “Here Comes the Bride” as the bride came down the church aisle once again.

Thirty minutes later, the Catholic wedding ceremony was finished and they were pronounced man and wife. Overall, it was nice (albeit long) that they incorporated the wedding ceremonies from both families.

Double Happiness Keepsake CandleThe wedding reception hall was decorated in red and gold, traditional Chinese wedding colors, and the food was trendy, hip Chinese cuisine with a lot of American influence.

For wedding favors, each guest received a Chinese take out box that was filled with little goodies.

If you are planning a wedding with an Asian influence, you can find a terrific array of Asian wedding favors right here at Truly. From the Double Happiness Keepsake Candle pictured here to white resin fortune cookies. Other ideas for Asian wedding favors include personalized fortune cookies, monogrammed chopsticks and mini bamboo plants.

When planning a beach wedding, incorporate a beach theme in your decorations, colors and of course, your wedding favors.

Even if you aren’t of Asian heritage, it doesn’t mean you can’t have an Asian wedding theme. Many couples enjoy the culture and colors so they are incorporating them into their wedding day.

Chinese Tapestry Votive CandleIf you are planning your wedding with an Asian theme, you have a lot of beautiful options for Asian wedding favors, decorations, and more. And don’t forget about the food, everyone loves delicious Chinese, Japanese and other Asian food.

Some of my favorite Asian wedding favors are these beautiful Chinese Tapestry votive candles. Each stunning red candle is packaged in a black and red Chinese tapestry bag. The red drawstring braid draws the bag shut and features two gold-trimmed tassels. The tag on each favor has the Chinese symbol for Double Happiness.

If you are trying to cut costs at your wedding, you need to find items that can do double-duty.
