Save Big Money On Your Wedding Entertainment

Posted on January 19th, 2011 by April Knobles in Wedding Reception, Weddings

imagesWhen I first started planning my wedding, I thought that having a live DJ was a must. The DJ is the one who gets the party started and guides the reception right? How can a wedding run without someone to play the music, announce the new couple, cue the music for the first dance, and tell everyone what is happening? However, when I started to do some research on getting a DJ, I came to the realization that having a live DJ is quite expensive. The average fees for having a live DJ for 4 hours was between $1,500 and $2,000. Since we were having a wedding on a tight budget, I realized that if I wanted to have a DJ at my wedding I would have to make major sacrifices to the decorations, wedding favors, and refreshments at my reception. Faced with having to make a decision between a live DJ and being able to afford a beautiful reception that I would be proud of, I decided to explore some other options.

Creative Favor: Take Your Wedding Cake Home!

Posted on April 5th, 2008 by Kori Ellis in Wedding Favors

Buttercream Dreams Cake CandleRecently I went to a wedding where, instead of serving the wedding cake, a slice of cake was given to each guest in a box to take home. Other desserts were offered at the reception if someone wanted to partake, but no one ate the cake (other than the bride and groom in the cutting ceremony).

I thought that it was a little odd but I kind of understand the logic. After a full meal, many people only take one bite of cake and throw the rest of the cake away. This way, everyone can enjoy the cake later at home and there is not so much waste.

If you aren’t interested in giving away real wedding cake in lieu of wedding favors, you can give beautiful cake shaped candles instead.

Truly Wedding Favors offers a selection of cake favors that are really cute and can cost less than $2 each. The one pictured here is the “Buttercream Dreams” cake candle. It’s just adorable!

You can also choose from pink, blue, white and even a special fall themed cake candle. These affordable wedding favors are beautiful and practical. Check out all the cake wedding favors here at Truly.
